Today is the day we compile all our animations together and now we are rendering to put it in a CD. Although i dont really feel that the animation is there* yet. You know, like there's a few missing scenes needed to be add. But so far, im quite impress with my group members as we made it on time yet we bring out the story. I'm sure people will understand what's going on. We add alot of SFX and ambience sound to create more exciting storyline to it.
Naf did a execellent job on doing the credits and Kez on editing. Racheal did an amazing job on the manrilyn moonroe. Andreas is superb as possible. We also would like to thank Amanda for giving us some great tips and suggestions. Jarrold for becoming our vocal on Brian.
I think the problem we faced and didnt really manage to make it through it the smooth of our animation.To save up our time, we did half tweening and half traditionally animation. Example like some our little scenes, like waving jumping, we do on tweening. For walk cycle and waving we draw it one by one.
But so far so good, im loving what we have done so far.. in 2 and a half weeks, we, Fourandahalf productions manage to came out 2min15secs animation with comedy and wonderful character and background designs.

Day 16, 11 May 2009
hi Andreas here again, its getting kinda Sicke... oops i mean boring to blog as there are two blogs to be updated..
Anyway, today we were supposed to combine all the files, so everyone exported their respective scenes as PNG sequence except Tri as she still had one scene to perfect. We handed the files to Naf our director/editor. I exported one of my scene with 2 different background version as i am quite confused with the layout.
there were several difficulties as our scene color for the background and the character slightly differ. The size of the background and the char also slightly out. Thus, Naf asked us to export without the background.
Amanda also asked us whther we know about line task, which is jus to use rough sketches, vectorised lines, imperfect betweens, etc to check for the timing. When the inbetweens and key position are nicely timed, that is where we perfect that very scene.
There are also problem with Rachael marylin monroe scne as pointed by Nafisah, when Nat touched Brian, the hand is there, however the hand is already drawin in the next scene.Thus, we edited Nafisah scene a bit as it is easier than editing Rachael part.

Day 14 Thursday
I've been really horrible with keeping up this blog thing. no one kill me please, I even have trouble keeping my diary up to date. hah.
So, nothing much, we just kept doing our individual scenes, hoping to finish it as soon as possible so that we can compile everything on Monday.
I had a bit of a problem with doing the trailing fart because; one, the fart had to keep moving; two, the fart had to be 'attached' to her but in one place; three, it's a panning shot. yep.
I was going to move the damn thing frame by frame or move the whole working file into After Effects; this would have had me in an utterly bad mood. Thankfully, Amanda came up to me and I asked her what I could do. She very patiently tried the many options I could use; and at the end of the day, Ta-dah! it is aliveeeeee. Yeah.
We learn something new everyday.
So, just had to tweak a bit here and there to get it to look right, Andreas showed me how to use the Alpha channels thing, which helped a lot too.
Then we went to help Rae with her P3 voice overs, that was quite fun. But yay! I think we could finish stuff by Monday, hopefully.

Day 15
I'm Naf!
I am here to bring the latest update of the group progress.. Like Duh right but well it's the fact. Sorry. I'm kind of tired. Anyway, let me think what we have done so far...hmmm......
Oh ok. We have done most of the scenes and it is going great. We did get some approval from amanda and yah. It's cool. So, we plan to finish our animaiton pieces by monday and we could start to combine all the stuff. I was planning to take different shots of the animation and place it as a picture and make an album out of it.
With the beauty of motion graphics, I'm going to make it pan from one place to another so that's our credits. Oh the song with be Mr Personality. It is a cool song I think back in 1998 or later. I just love the beat and I asked Rachael, Tri and Kez if the song is okay and they agreed. So I cant wait to start the credits. WOO!

Day 12 Tuesday
I realised that I have not blog. Sorry people!
This is RaE by the way.
So today we were doing our own stuff again. I'm still doing that marilyn monroe scene without the marylin monroe. So Natali is just going to be shock because brian fell and then the cat walked pass her. I'm still halfway doing that. Amanda told me to move on to other scene so that I wont be bored doing this scene over and over again. So yeah I did. I had to do lipsynch! Which is a bad and a good thing. Bad because is tedious, good because I must practise my lipsynching.Haha
OKay as for the rest of the team... Andreas is doing well (as usual) for his part. I really love the part when Natalie jumped and said "I.M PREGNANT!" with her tummy all exposed.Haha! Great job man. Oh and the baby scene. He hasn't given it yet. He showed me during the weekend but I told him to make a few changes to the part the gas came out from the flying baby's butt. I told him to make it look like the train smoke. Haha. He still need another scene which is the slomo of nat's lips saying "pppprrreegggnannnttt." yeah we have to re-record the voice because the current one is distorted and for some reason it has an electric sound.
Naf is doing great as well. Even though I can't stand Natalie's bimbotic voice, I though Naf did a pretty good job showing Natalie's action. It matched the voice. She has to add some motion graphic for the background. Like pink babys stuff going around Brian. I pity her for having to listen to the voice over and over again. Haha.
Tri is doing her walk cycle. I haven't really see what she did but I'm sure she's doing great. Kez is doing the part where Nat farted. She must make her shake Brian but so far I haven't seen the latestt one.Kez's and tri's latest background is nicer! Suits more with our characters. Oh yeah speaking of characters, we also changed Natalie's color. We need to make her color different than Brian so that she doesn't blend in with him. So here's the new color!!

Moving on..
Tri here!! :)
Today, spilts outselves into different tasks. Mostly have been done and i'm quite happy because we managed to finish it on time. On Monday, we're planing to combine everything together. What i did was, i animated the logo and at sound effects to it and first few scenes and also the background. We are yet to add ambience sounds and sound effects to the whole video. I hope that we can do it by Monday as we have our Project 3 to be done.
We too are yet to re-do our gantt chart as we do it wrongly for our previous one. So basically, we have to create a table and state our tasks and the date so we could time ourselves and plan ahead so we won't faced delays.
So far, the problem we faced are, background as i make it too satruated that viewers focus more on the background then our character. So Kezia, edit the backgorund as it look very simple and i think she did a good job. So i follow her style and do the other backgrounds.
Next problem we face is, trying to bring out the humour that we have created, like the farting scene and marilyn moonroe scene. Both Rae and Kez did a very good job on the scenes. I just hope that our viewers would understand our animation as well as our story.

Day 11, 04 May 2009
yup its Andreas turn again, your favourite "half" girl....
Anyway I showed everyone my piece the one I did on weekend (except Tri, she is sick.. aww..get well soon).. anyway moving on... In fact I only showed Kezia as the rest has seen mine over the net (yeah MSN is v practical), She said that I have to rotate the mouth slightly, and gimme the idea to move that Brian eye a bit, so yeah I did that swiftly.
I also showed Amanda my scenes. She give me few idea of how the fart should look like, she also said I need 4 or more in betweens. Currently It really look like it is so motion tween. She also said that not only my scene, but most of our scene abuse the usage of motion tween... Oh man.. I guess that means more drawing to do (not just me, all.... :p). I do not need squash and stretch for that scene. However, I should move on to next scene first and tweak this scene later on.
As for the walk, she said I have to apply the slow in slow out principle more, especially the hand. Amanda also commented that we need to make the character has different hue, since we use less striking colours, it is hard to see them in the screen (for example the cat scene). Amanda also said we need to make the earring colour more striking.. so yeah, poor Kezia I guess she have to tweak the colour again for say... is it 4 times? or is it the 5th time? Ah well..
Kezia also showed us the updated background. Since it is so plain (and sad.. poor kids only have 1 slide to share with the rest), I think we should add another facility... say swing? seesaw? those weird-looking-vibrating-plastic-horse? So yeah.. a swing is added in the end.. good job :p. She also put a lamp for Brian to lean on in the playground. I also think that Brian should really lean and turn to stand normally as he greeted Natalie. (so yeah.. mroe drawing to do for Tri, but c mon Tri, good luck, I also have a lot in between for the baby to draw, Nafisah also had in betweens for the hand).. so yeah good luck all

Day 9. Thursday Post
Shame on me, I totally forgot to blog on Thursday. Actually, I really did remember on Thursday itself, till Adam Lambert stayed on my mind. haha
So, Thursday was presentation. It was quite a fruitful experience for all the groups I think. For our group personally, we received a lot of comments on our background and character. The character's outline color was too faint and everything on the face just blends together. This was the second time I changed the colors of the character. For the background, a few people felt that the playground was too bare and the background and the characters together just didnt fit nicely together.
We showed them our proof-of-concepts. For the scene I did, the class thought that Brian's head looked too big, it does but in reality, it is the correct size if compared to Natalie's body. They liked the facial expression though; so happy, I was spazing on my mirror for a while when animating the fart sequence. One thing I have to change is the green fart and make it more menancing.
I think it is very bold for Laurie's and Yi Chuin's group to do on the same story; it opens up to minds comparing their work...well, to me that is, no one actually compared but I would be highly scared.
It was fun watching ShuXian's group's work...the stopmotion one, I would love to try stopmotion one day and all their props are so cute. And it's always fun to play with food. heh

Anyway, I think we are going at quite a good pace. :D

Day 10
Friday! May Day! Holiday!
Anyways, I asked my group members to do their scenes during the weekends and hopefully we could get all done by this upcoming week as it is already week 3. I am excited for this group as we all managed to show 5 animations (including logo animation). I did told Kez that we are done with the last part. We are only left with a few more scenes and we are done. WOO! I bet we an do this. We can definitely finish this fast. With not much editing to do that is.
Well, this week is pretty hectic. We have 2 presentations happening. P3 and Animation 2. We had to manage our time to animate and do storyboarding. People didn't get enough sleep but still we made it through. Well, characters have been edited again as the out lines are too light. These are the edited version and background are not confirm yet as we are still playing with the colours.

Day 08
Tri here!! =)
Today we did our own task that was given which are doing character design, background and animation for our proof of concept. Nafisah will be doing the powerpoint slides and i will be doing background and logo animation. For andreas and rae, they've already change some of the storyboards and Kezia too doing the character and animate her part.
We have some problems with our background as i actually make it more apealing then our character. Woops.. so Amanda give suggestion to make it not too saturated. So i decided to make it dull. She too thinks that my background is too complicated and she would rather see it simplified. So i;ve change quite a few things and make it a bit dull.
We had fun doing out animation as we enjoyed doing the funny scenes. We've almost finish our ending just need to change bits here and that. Sorry i didnt blog that much.
For now we just editing our ending before starting combining our animation together.

Day 7
Rachael here.
Today was production day again. Amanda went around to consult but our group was focusing more on p3 except Andreas. He was doing the scene which we asked him to do.The part when the guy fainted and then saw flying babies going round his wife/girlfriend. The baby looked really stupid and funny. But anyway, good job! I'm really glad the presentation is on Thursday. We have 1 day to do the animation. For me, I was suppose to do the Marilyn Monroe scene. You'll get it when you see it. I did halfway already until the part when Brian fell. Now it's just Natalie covering her flowy skirt.
Nafisa did the part when Natalie's finger pressed Brian's nose. She showed it to us and it was funny because Natalie was trembling.Hahahahha! Tri is doing the background. Her background is very nice. Too nice for our characters. It will overshadow our simple characters. Therefore Tri is going to simplify her background. Lastly, Kezia's scene is the fart scene! I really want to see this scene because I love Natalie's expression after she farted (it was my drawing) it's so awesome everyone loves it!

Day 06, 27 April 2009
Hello, It's Andreas again.. Miss me people? :D
Anyway, As Alan's consultation class for P3 dragged to 4 PM, our class also postponed to 4 PM. In the meantime, we divided the part to animate for our proof of concept. I will be animating the blur part (near ending), Rachael will be doing marylin Monroe and the cat part, Tri will be doing the logo and establishing scene, Naf will also be doing the establishing shots, the rubbing nose scene, and the guy woke up scene, Kezia will be doing the panning shot (from the pants to the head) and the relieved (retarded face). We also have long discussion about the sequence of the farting and the angling. Nafisah wanted to do the pan shot from the 'pants with hole' to the top view of her shaking Brian. She also wanted the scene to be after the 'oops' part. I wanted the 'pants with hole' scene after showing she continued shaking Brian. Raj and me will not be able to turn up, thus our group has to cover our part (we also have to do our part for proof of concept too apparently). Amanda approved the sequencing idea Kezia offered. After the consultation, we tried to take photo of the top shot. Apparently, I had to lie down on the floor while someone else (Tri initially and switched to Kezia) become the woman. We tried to take the butt with hole to top view however in doing so the camera had to move in circular manner (instead of normal panning), thus Kezia gave another idea to make it pan sideway instead now. We did the photo taking hastily and were done with it.

Anyway, As Alan's consultation class for P3 dragged to 4 PM, our class also postponed to 4 PM. In the meantime, we divided the part to animate for our proof of concept. I will be animating the blur part (near ending), Rachael will be doing marylin Monroe and the cat part, Tri will be doing the logo and establishing scene, Naf will also be doing the establishing shots, the rubbing nose scene, and the guy woke up scene, Kezia will be doing the panning shot (from the pants to the head) and the relieved (retarded face). We also have long discussion about the sequence of the farting and the angling. Nafisah wanted to do the pan shot from the 'pants with hole' to the top view of her shaking Brian. Hello PPL!
Finally its my turn to blog. By the way, I'm NAF!!! WOO!!
There wasn't any class today but I did assign my group members to do something during the weekends.
KeZ: She will be editing the chracter designs and adding some fingers so that we could know what they will look like with fingers.
Tri: She will be doing the background and editing the logo so that it would be more clear.
Rachael and Andreas: They will editing the storyboard and I told rachael if she could animate the Merlin Monroe after Kez and Tri send the background and character.
As for me I will sit back and relax. HAHAHA. Thats not true actually, I'll be doing the inhale of the green gas part. I cant wait to do that part actually.. haha..gonna love the expression..
Well, apart from skol work, rae and me went cycling! WOO!! hahaha. Anyway, these are our progress images. There might be some changes to our character design and the background.

Day 4
Kezzy's turn to blog. woo
Actually I was supposed to blog yesterday but right after school I went for CATS and I was dead tired when I got home. DONT KILL ME!!! im so sorry. Anyway, yay, I'm blogging now
Every group had to present their storyboards, character design and story. We were the second group to present. Amanda actually got us to draw lots so each would get another group to comment on. I think this is a good practice because most of the time after presentation, people dont comment at all or they give sarcastic comments. This way, Amanda commented, along with a bunch of other people.
There were two pairs of groups that are using the same storyline. It was quite interesting to see the different takes on a same story. One group that I remembered quite clearly was the anime-ish group. Er..the one with Laurie, Hanes, Honey and some other people. I am so sorry for being judgemental on the anime part if they dont think it's very anime, but the storyboards and the way the characters reacted reminded me of the Manga comic books I read when I was 10. yeah.
But, I dont want to begin talking about why I dont like Manga anymore, I think I will get some very violent objections and reactions from people. shiverss.
For our personal group, it was nice to see their laughter as a reaction to our storyboard; just the way we wanted it to play out. A few comments for myself on the character design for I came out with it, have to tweak a few things here and there. Also, there was one thing that Amanda commented about our ending. Our group discussed this yesterday and I thought it was a bad idea; they took it in, but they Amanda brought it up yesterday. Rachael and Andreas suggested that after Brian and Natalie hug, we zoom in to her ripped pants, I think this was a bad idea because the story doesnt revolve around her ripped pants, thats why we shouldnt conclude the animation by showing her ripped pants. But Amanda suggested that we do zoom in to her ripped pants at the end. Well, we havent discussed this as a group but I think the rest are ok with zooming in to the end, o well. Yep, so that's all from yesterday.

Day 03 - Discussion.

Well, today's is my turn to blog it out. What we did today was rearranging all our storyboards. I was happy with my groupmates as they managed to came out with different kinds of ideas. Well, Amanda point out a good point where by its better for us to come out our own storyboard and combine them together.
I'm not sure with Andreas and Rachael pointed this out but we assign ourselves with different kind of roles. As usual, Naf will be the LEADER!! She's good i tell you! nyahahaha. :) well,i'm more of background artist,vectoring things. Kezia and Rae has maverlous potential in drawing characters but Kez was assign as the character designer. Animators will be all of us and i think Andreas will be the editor! LOL! well, frankly Andreas is all-rounders.
This afternoon, we spilt ourselves to do different tasks. Andreas and Rae spilting the job of drawing storyboards. Nafisah and I will be touching on moodboards. Nafisah will also be doing on Powerpoint presentation. Kezia will be our character designer, she will also be colouring them out. As for me i will be doing the background and logo for our group. Four and a half GIRLS! I find it nice because it actually suits what we will be animating, which you people will find our soon.
As we discuss earlier, we added few funny scenes to make our animation more effective rather then just normal pregnancy animation. Amanda too has given us great ideas to make our animation more effective and entertaining.
I'm really looking foward for our animation and i really have faith in my groupmates.

Animation 2- Day 2
It's Rachael's turn to blog today.Yay...
Wow it's been awhile since I feel this tired. Yesterday I waited for almost an hour for the stupid bus to arrive. There goes 1 hour of my life. By the time I reached home I was so dead. No doubt about it I'm still in holiday mood. I better hope that the mood goes away faster.Haha.
So today we were suppose to present each of our individual storyboards. I think my version of the pregnancy story was the most retarded (in a good way) and funny-lame one. I realised that I took quite some time to think of something. Anyway, my version was inspired by 'Late-Night-With-Nafisah-On-The-Phone'. I was talking with Naf last night because both of us didn't really know what kind of concept we want or how we want to show the story. So we started talking about our girl character being very bimbotic twirling her hair and all. The topic then suddenly changed to Bollywood dance. We were saying our story should be a musical Bollywood. Right after that, there was one part when our guy character supposed to freeze at the word 'pregnant' and we said it should be like 'The Matrix' where the letters 'P R E G N A N T' come towards him in slow motion and he tried to dodge them but couldn't. This is when the topic suddenly changed to the tv show 'CSI'and the letters start going into the guy's flesh and head and all the blood splatters and his brain came out. So typical Naf. In the end we realised we were going no where so we decided to hang up. However, thankfully I got an idea on how I want to show the story.
We discussed today. Tri showed us her version and hers was really smart because she managed to minus off all the lipsynching and I thought hers was nice and simple, following the script closely and nicely. Andreas's storyboard was nicely done. He made the girl's character appear shy and goodie-too-shoes type. I found it, well actually all of us (Kez, Naf, Tri and I),a little anime-ish. Sorry Andreas but majority wins. But we took some part from him! When Brian (the guy character) turned into a cardboard and fell flat on the floor, he randomly drew a cat which looked like an obese Cheshire cat inside and made it walked on Brian when he was flat on the floor. Thank you for being random Andreas.
Next was Naf's turn. Hers was the same as Tri's except that her scene started out in a park. Kezia's story was emo like her. Her scene started out with Brian leaning against a wall and everything was slowly paced. Her ideas are more of the mystical type with all the different colors and background she wanted to use. We took that part from her storyboard.
My group didn't use my storyboard because it was too complicated and surreal. We need much more time and animators to do mine. Haha. Oh well at least they laughed at mine.
Right now, we have already decided on which part to take. We decided that the setting will be in a playground because park is too cliche. We are using Kez's part for the starting scene. Then we are using Tri's part for the conversation because hers allowed us to skip lipsynching. Now the famous scene which is Andreas's scene with the fat cat. We are planning to make the cat extremely fat so that it will look more comical and ridiculous (in a good way).
Oh yes and there's also one scene that we want to make it look comedic. When the girl bends down to wake Brian up, the screen will fade to black, and right after that there will be a farting sound followed by a ripping sound. The girl will then say "Oops" quietly to herself and suddenly screamed "Brian! Hello? Brian? Are you okay?". Brian will then be woken up by the stench of her fart smell. And his vision will be blurry. The ending scene will be Brian and his girlfriend hugging each other revealing the rip on her butt.
That's all for today. All of us are to come up with a character design and we'll be choosing the best one tomorrow. We are not sure if we want our characters to be human or not. Most probably human-simplified human. Other than that. we might be designing the playground. It might be in 3D or digital painted. That was all for today! Until tomorrow!

Andreas here, I was glad to be given the first privilege to write the blog.
Ah... holiday has just over... the class started at 3.00 PM, however it was a long wait after the Director COMM session (especially after the long talk, my stamina was totally drained) and I am also still in the holiday mood. Thus, I got rather sleepy even before class. Frankly speaking, I was quite happy when Amanda said today lesson will not be long.
Amanda started the class by giving us the project briefing. We were given some time to read it. The first word that intrigued most people was the word “blog”. Yeah, we had to write a blog and apparently most are unhappy with it. Fortunately, Amanda made the sharing blog session to be a group blog (yeah apparently animation 2 going to be a group project, thus one person only needs to write the blog once per week). Amanda explained that blog is of great importance as it is the only time for lecturer to know the progress of each individual group (rather than only solely relying on peer assessment).
We also had to finish an individual storyboard by tomorrow, but firstly we were allowed to form our own group. We already had our group members in mind. My group consist of Nafisah, Tri, Rachael, Kezia and me. We nominated Nafisah as the leader. We also discussed out group name while waiting for the others to form their group. Some ‘unique’ ideas were spouted like “Andreas and us”, “Andreas and the group” (I do not get why the word “Andreas” is commonly spouted). Finally, they used my ideas “four girls and a half” as the group name (yeah, apparently I am making fun of myself but who cares).
Amanda then asked the group leaders to collect the scenario from her. Nafisah picked a rather interesting topic “Pregnancy”. Each of us took a look at it and we decided to stick with it. We were rather unsure of the cardboard cut-out term so we asked Amanda about it. Amanda explained that the character sort of became a 2d character.
We discussed on the possible approaches to tackle this project. Nafisah said that she wanted it to be mixture of video, motion graphics and animation. However since the whole project has to have more animation it was rather hard. I wanted it to be fully-animated, however the other group members said that we do not have enough time, especially with the Project 3 and all. Thus, I told the other group members to do the individual storyboard first. We will discuss this again after we had the finalised storyboard and thus will have easier time in choosing the right approach. Amanda then asked me, Jarrold and Kevin to collect the Drawing for animation materials from her staff room. Meanwhile, the group is discussing on the schedule for the blogging and apparently mine is on every Monday. Tri promised to give me the blog address once she reached home. Amanda told us at the end of the class that we supposed to draw the storyboard in a sketchbook. The whole sketchbook is just a bonus (may used to support our stands in peer assessment later on) and will not be marked.
Once I reached home, I typed all this in word doc. Nafisah told me through MSN that video will be hard since we need to recue the place and weather is not constant nowadays.I am also unsure whether we can use non-human characters. Nafisah was rather unsure either, I guess I will ask Amanda about it tomorrow.
